Welcome to my little piece of the web!
After practicing pediatrics for nearly fifteen years, I retired to address some serious medical issues of my own. I have dealt with diabetes, dialysis, eye surgeries, heart disease, a double organ transplant and a bad fall that almost cost me a leg! Throughout all that time, I never stopped answering questions and giving advice to folks I would run into at the grocery store, the local Walmart or even at the dialysis center. (Everyone is your neighbor here in the Shenandoah Valley!)
I realized that the part of medical practice I missed most was the simple pleasure of talking, sharing, reassuring and guiding parents, grandparents and patients.
Today’s physicians face many demands, and the hectic pace of most offices doesn’t allow for as much personal connection as most of us would like. I want to bridge that gap- at least a little.
I have long since torn up my prescription pad, threw out my license renewal paperwork and hung up my stethoscope; but I have not lost my love of children and their families. I have hung my new shingle right here!
My opinions are my own and I always try to be diligent to seek out the most up-to-the-minute medical information. I cannot be your personal pediatrician, but you can think of me as an aunt (or sister or even a neighbor) who just happens to have a medical degree and pediatric expertise. It is my goal to offer guidance and to encourage honest discussion in a non-judgemental atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.
So grab a cup of coffee and take a seat at my kitchen table, or pour yourself a tall glass of lemonade and a relax in a rocker on my front porch. The point is to get comfortable. No need to change your outfit or fix your hair. If you like it here, then follow the conversation. (Sign up for our mailing list, join us on Facebook or follow us on Pinterest. We hope to have these online accounts up and running soon!)
If my style is not to your liking, then find someone who makes you more comfortable. I promise not to be offended. I am no more perfect than you are. After all, WE’RE ONLY HUMAN!
